Obituary of James Christopher

James Arthur Christopher, better known as Little James, 77 of Hebron passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on March 22, 1941 in Eden he was the son of the late James and Irene Christopher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Cleveland Holbrook and Joyce Ann Booker, his sister Mary Miles and his brothers Ronald and Donald Christopher.

Little James received his education in the Somerset County School system. In his youthful days he attended church at Rose of Sharon in Fruitland, MD. He was a self-taught auto mechanic for years. He was known as an avid hunter and loved to run his rabbit dogs. James was a lover of outdoor activities, on any given weekend he would gather a bunch of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and they would go crabbing; one of his favorite past times; or fishing or play of a game of softball. He had a giant heart, always willing to help someone, many times opening his home to strangers to give them a helping hand. He taught his baby sisters the importance of being strong and how to take care of themselves acting as a second father figure to them.

He is survived by his beloved, caring and devoted wife of 52 years, Doris Christopher. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 14 grandchildren; Latoya (Lamont) Joynes, Latasha, Eric, Derrick, Benjamin, Bethany, Faith, Heaven and Shekinah Holbrook, Niki Spence, Khadijah Jones, Keith Booker, Detroit Fountain and Maurice Richardson; and 6 great grandchildren, 3 sisters Gladys Justice, Carolyn (Michael) Tomlin and Margaret Christopher along with a brother in law George Miles and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11 am at the Living Bread Worship Center, 506 E. College Ave., Salisbury, MD 21804. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9-11 am at the church.
