Obituary of Dwayne Ringgold

BIVALVE—Dwayne A. Ringgold, 53, of here, went to his eternal rest, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Mary K. Ringgold of Bivalve and William Cornish (Joyce) of Salisbury.

Dwayne was a 1982 graduate of James M. Bennett Senior High School, were he was on the track team.

Dwayne served in the United States Army. While serving in the Army he received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Marksman. Dwayne was employed at Gruman’s, and Filtronic Comtrek in Salisbury. Finally, he worked for the Wicomico County Board of Education Transportation and Shore Transit as a bus driver.

Dwayne was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, were he served as a trustee; member of the Gospel Choir, the Multitude of Praise and Methodist Men’s Choir; chairperson of Transportation Ministry, Usher Board and Safe Sanctuary Team. Dwayne truly loved the Lord and he was a good steward to his church. Dwayne was loved by many and will be missed.

Besides his parents, Dwayne is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Myra Ringgold; his son Justin Gibbs of New Mexico and daughter, Dewauna Ringgold of Salisbury; step-children, Alicia Hitch Griffin (Travis) of Salisbury and Melvin Hitch and his wife, Priscilla of Bivalve; siblings, Victor Huntley of Baltimore, Bryant Ringgold, Robin R. Blount (James), Monique Moore (Keith), Timothy Sykes (Kimberly) Dwayne Cornish (Alison), Melody McCarthy, all of Salisbury. Dwayne also raised Tyneshia and Keon White, and Reginald Green, (TJ). Dwayne also is survived by 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a devoted uncle, Robert Perry; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, were viewing will be held an hour prior to service. Burial will be in Parson’s Cemetery, Salisbury.
