Obituary of Eliazbeth Hull

Elizabeth Ann (BabySis) Hull, daughter of the late Oliver C. Hull and Harriet Crowner Hull was born October 5, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Elizabeth completed early childhood school in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and graduated from Wiley H. Bates High School, Annapolis, Maryland in 1956. She played saxophone in the school band, sang in the choir and was a member of the volleyball team.

She attended Maryland State College (now University of Maryland Eastern Shore), graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She played the saxophone in the college marching band and had the honor of being the only female member of the marching band.

Elizabeth was employed by the State of Maryland as a Home Extension Agent, wherein she was responsible for providing recreational therapy for Maryland senior citizens throughout Wicomico County, Maryland.

Upon retiring from the State of Maryland, Elizabeth began employment with the Federal Government Department of Agriculture as a Food Inspector. She was primarily involved in inspecting companies in the poultry industries and was responsible for insuring that government procedures were complied with in order to produce healthy and quality poultry products. Her area of responsibility included all poultry companies located on the Eastern Shores of Maryland and Virginia. She retired in December 2004 after twenty years of honorable and faithful service.

Elizabeth was also an entrepreneur in the seamstress business. She was noted for her creativity and immaculate construction of wedding gowns, dresses and formal wears. Her business venture enabled her to obtain a contract with the Salisbury Pewter Company for the construction of velvet laced jewelry boxes.

She was very involved and dedicated participant in community organizations and activities. As a longtime member of Saint James Free Methodist Church, Quantico, Maryland, she served as the Sunday School Superintendent, a leader of youth activities, an avid church fund raiser, and a member of the Zionettes Choir. Her melodious voice was enjoyed by all, especially doing her rendition of the hymn “Sending Up My Timber”. Elizabeth also performed with the Gospelettes of the Freeman Methodist Church, Tyaskin, Maryland and the Brothers and Sisters by Choice of Elzey United Methodist Church, Bivalve, Maryland.

While a student at Maryland State College, she utilized her skills in music, dancing and drilling to organize and develop a boys and girls club in the community of Galesville, Maryland. She organized and developed the club members into a competitive drill team. The team successfully performed in several county and Maryland statewide drill team competitions.

Elizabeth was a member of the Westside Activity Club for over 40 years and served as the club president and treasurer. She was involved in several community related projects and was instrumental in the planning and organizing of the annual Club Christmas celebration at Ocean City, Maryland. Additionally, she honored our military veterans by serving as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 10159, Salisbury, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andradese L. Hull; parents, Oliver and Harriet Hull; sister, Constance A. Spriggs; brothers Sidney A. Hull and Howard F. Hull and nephew Howard E. Hull.
