Viola Simpson 87 of Salisbury passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her home. Born in Ridgley, MD she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Thomas Simpson.
Ms. Simpson worked at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in central processing for 31 years. She was a foster grandparent for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s A.M.E. Zion Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Key Council, Stewardess Board and Missionary Board.
She is survived by three children: Renee Mitchell, Anthony C. Simpson, Sr., his wife, Mary and Andrew K. Simpson and his wife, Charise; sister, Lillie M Simpson; brother, Donald E. Simpson; grandchildren: DeToiya McAliley and husband, LaMont, Donielle M. Mitchell, Anthony C. Simpson, Jr., Dyana M. Mitchell, Andrew K. Simpson and Brittany R. Simpson; three great-grandchildren: Jasmine N. McAliley, Jada N. McAliley and Reygan A. Simpson; and best friend, Brenda J. Jernigan.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen A. Simpson and Mary C. Church and brother, John I. Simpson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:00 am at the church. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. Repass will be at the VFW Post on W. Main Street in Salisbury.
