On the morning of January 6th 2017, the Lord our father whispered in one of his strongest daughters ear that her work here on earth was done. Clara Christine Mann Young the beloved third child born to Aubrey Buddy Mann and Ethel Church Mann of Quantico, MD. on May 26, 1941.
Christine as she was affectionately called grew up in Quantico MD and graduated from Salisbury High School where she ran track and played softball. Upon getting her diploma she pursued a career in nursing to later become an LPN. In her early adult years she met the love of her life the late Vaughn Cecil Young and they wed in 1981. Christine's love for people and healthcare led her to 30 yrs of employment at Holly Center. As well as 7 yrs at Wicomico Nursing Home and numerous side jobs doing private sitting. Caring for people was her love. Christine was a joy to be around and she loved her family right, wrong or indifferent. She loved to cook and was an avid sports fan. But the thing she will most be remembered for is her strength and being the anchor for her family.
Christine leaves to mourn yet to remember and cherish her memories; One step daughter Carla Burris-Taylor and her husband Warren of Salisbury, MD; two grandsons Aubrey Taylor of Salisbury, MD and Tyron Purnell of Laurel, MD; one granddaughter Tierra Barclay and her fiancé Josh of Atlanta, GA; three brothers Wallace, Charles and Michael Mann all of Salisbury, MD; one brother in law Lester Young of Salisbury, MD; four sister in law's Vivian and her husband Earl Donaldson of Quantico, MD. Alece Young of Salisbury, MD. Yvette Young of Seaford, DE. and Doretha Wilson of Clinton, MD; one son in law Tony Chaney of Westover, MD. and two uncles Tilghman Church and Irvin Adkins both of Salisbury, MD; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Christine was preceded in death by her daughter Alva Hayman, her husband Vaughn Young, three sisters Arnetta Mann, Ella Dutton, and Lillian Sample. One brother Authur Mann and her Mother in law Marjorie Young.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Mt. Enoch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow the service in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
