Edythe Clara Conway Reed

Edythe Clara Conway Reed, 103, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Salisbury Nursing and Rehab. In Salisbury. She was born April 23, 1915 in Clara, MD. She was the third of 5 daughters born to the late Charles Wesley and Clara Conway. Edythe graduated from the former Nanticoke High School. In June of 1972 she married Leonard Reed.

During her long lifetime Edythe had many accomplishments. She was the church sector at Dames Quarter Church for 21 years. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in 1957 under the leadership of Rev. Hurt. Her services included Pastors aide ember for over 50 years, Pastors aide President for 15 years, trustee for 10 years, missionary for over 40 years, steward, (non Deaconess), for over 35 years, usher for 3 years, and Lay Council for over 3 years. What an amazing woman!

Edythe retired from Peninsula Regional Hospital after working 31 years and 10 months as a nursing assistant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, 3 sisters, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces.

Edythe leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. Mattie Milbourne of Philadelphia, PA, her niece Mrs. Paula Wallace (Harry), whom she called her daughter, along with 3 other nieces, Mrs. Diane Simmons (Whyman), Mrs. Sandra Bell (Kevin), and Mrs. Connie Hargrave (Robert). 2 nephews, Aranzo Milbourne (Marion) and Charles Milbourne (Denise),7 great nieces, 4 great nephews,7great-great nieces and 11 great-great nephews. Also, a very special caregiver, Ms. Jacqueline Townsend, whom she loved dearly. Wow, What a legacy!

God blessed her with a beautiful life and loving family; her laughter and sense of humor and tender heart will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 am at St. Paul AME Church, 410 Delaware Ave., Salisbury, MD 21801. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
