Obituary of Marion Barkley
Marion Winfield Barkley, 87, of Salisbury died on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born on March 8, 1930 he was the son of the late German and Anna Barkley.
Mr. Barkley was a 63 years bus contractor for the Wicomico County Board of Education and was the head of the former English’s Catering for over 30 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Marion was a family man and served the community in many capacities. He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul AME Zion Church and was a 33rd degree mason. He had a kind and gentle spirit and was a friend to all. He will be sorely missed by his many family, friends and colleagues.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Lee Wright Barkley and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at noon at the New Dimensions Family Ministry, 1907 Jersey Rd., Salisbury with a viewing one hour prior to the service. There will also be an additional viewing and civic and fraternal presentations on Friday evening from 5-8 pm at St. Paul AME Zion Church, 410 Delaware Ave., Salisbury.
