Obituary of Antoinette Maddox
On Saturday, Jnauary 21, 2017, “the chimes of time rang out the news” for Antoinette Marie Gayle Maddox “Net” that her time here on earth was finished. She quietly slipped the bonds of life at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.
Antoinette was born on June 14, 1957 to Peggy Taylor and Hanson Handy. She received her formal education in the Wicomico County public school system, graduating from Bennett High School. Proudly, she was blessed with two sons, Michael and George. She was a devoted and loving mother. As a young woman, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at St. James Free Methodist Church in Head of the Creek, Maryland. Later, Antoinette became a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church.
Antoinette was employed by the Eastern Correctional Institution (E.C.I.) until the need to retire for health reasons. While she was employed at E.C.I., she had earned the rank of sergeant and was well on her way to become a lieutenant. Once life was manageable for her, all who knew her realized how dearly she loved her family and friends. She was at her best living, laughing and socializing with those she held dear. She had a bright spirit, unshakeable faith, and abiding love of family. Fortunately, she found time to shop and dine with her mother. Antoinette had a passion for reading and playing with “Sweet Pee”.
