Leanna Baines Ayers

Leanna Baines Ayers, 104, of Salisbury, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, peacefully at Wicomico Nursing Home.  Born on March 5, 1914 in Franktown, VA, in Northampton County. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Olivia Baines.

Mrs. Ayers worked for many years in the seafood industry. She was a faithful servant to our Almighty God Jehovah as one of his witnesses in the Queenstown, Maryland congregation for many years from 1972. She loved people and talking to them about God's kingdom and ruled by his son Jesus Christ.

She was a resident of Wicomico Nursing Home for about 6 years because she needed professional care. At Wicomico Nursing Home the staff took care of mommy as if she was their own family. She was easy to love and she loved them dearly and often refer them to "My Girls"; Dr. Thim also made sure that mommy was comfortable and he was very professional.

Mommy devoted her life as she would say to Jehovah and to her beloved husband of 68 years, the late Joseph Ayers "Joe" of Queen Anne County who passed away in 2003; her children, Joseph Leon Ayers and Bessie Ayers Singeltary also preceded her in death. She loved all of her children but there was a joke between the family that she loved her only son the best. She is also survived by her daughter Eloise Ayers Wise and her husband Irvin; a nephew Paul Ayers whom she considered as her son; many many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who rallied around her and loved her to the very end. She also leaves to cherish her memory her many nieces, nephews, connected family and dear friends and her dear Christian family of as Jesus Christ said in Mark.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2 pm West Congregation Jehovah’s Witness, 7704 Stanton Ave., Salisbury, MD 21801. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Kingdom Hall.
