Lucille Robinson, 76, received her wings, Monday, January 29, 2018 in the comfort of her home in Whitehaven, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy Margaret Wainwright and William Patterson (Pat) Barclay.
She was educated in the Wicomico County Public School System and graduated high school in 1960.
Lucille grew up in a loving Christian home raised by her grandmother, Lucy Wainwright Heart and at an early age accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a member of John Wesley Methodist Church in Whitehaven until closing. She then attended St. James Free Methodist Church on Head of Creek Road in Quantico.
She assisted with various ministries in the church and sang with the Zionettes Gospel Choir. She was also a member of the Westside Activity Club.
She loved basketball, softball, dancing and cooking. Not just for her family, but the community. Lucille found great pleasure observing others as they enjoyed the fruits of her labor.
Lucille was joined in holy matrimony to the late Russell Lee Robinson on November 25, 1989. She survived two bouts with breast cancer. The first in 1989 and the second in 2005. Lucille had a strong constitution and was a fighter.
Lucille was employed by Perdue until she retired, and after a brief retirement returned to work for the Wicomico County Housing Authority until her brief illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Mona (Kenneth) Bailey, Dawn Wainwright, Laurie (Milton) Collins, Gwen Blake, and Elizabeth Horsey; two sons in her heart, Howard Lanier and Milton (Beverly) Lanier; sisters, Altermease Jones, Linda (Joel) McLeod; a brother, Claude (Phyllis) Lanier; one brother in law, Howard (Betty) Robinson; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by an aunt, Mayo Waters; sisters in law, Bertha Robinson, Geraldine Mitchell Robinson, Sara Brown; god son, Damond (Darbi) Robinson; god daughter, Shonda Handy and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents, and her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Helena Frierson, Chauncey Wainright and Hollis Lanier.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 am at St. James Free Methodist Church. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3 one hour prior to the service.
