Our History

We stand behind our reputation and will continue to serve our community with the compassion, integrity and honesty as we have done for over 50 years.

Stewart Funeral has been in business in Salisbury for over 50 years. After Clinton Stewart passed away his wife, Gladys Stewart, obtained a widows license and had run the funeral home with John Holloway as the supervising mortician. Now a new era, Mrs. Stewart passed away, the new owners, John M. Holloway, W. Richard Holloway Jr. and Keith R. Downey want to continue the Stewart Funeral Home, although the new name is Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey, P.A., we will add Holloway Funeral Home technology and resources to bring this funeral home into a new era.

Stewart Funeral Home By Holloway and Downey will provide our ministry, care and comfort to all families with compassion, integrity and honesty. Serving the public in a time of need is what we have done for over 50 years at Stewart Funeral Home. We will serve each family with the kindness they deserve, give them the options available to them and help guide them and let each family make the decisions best for their family without any pressure. As we bring the Holloway Funeral Home resources and technology to Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey, P.A. we will provide and offer the most up to date services, technology and resources to all families we serve. Given the opportunity, we will build lasting friendships with each family we serve as the Stewart family has done for 50 years and Holloway family for five generations.
